The Razor's Edge

This is a thought I am working on, to try to help brothers and sisters all over the convention to sort through a host of thorny issues (Calvinism, tongues, what kind of music to use (as if God cares) eschatology, etc.). Here is the formulation so far:

There are some things that God tells us because He wants us to know--such as Providence, Eschatology, God's Sovereignty, Foreknowledge, Election, etc. We can't do anything about these things, God just wants us to know them so that we will feel sufficiently small so as to be used.

There are other things that God tells us because He wants us to do--The Great Commission, the Sermon on the Mount, Ephesians 4:17-5:33, etc.--the list is huge.

The Razor's Edge is to discern the difference.

If we attempt to act upon things God wants us to know in violation of what He wants us to do, we are living a lie. If we attempt to use the things God wants us to do in such a fashion as to deny what He has plainly told us He wants us to know, we are teaching lies.

I am working this out in my mind, preparing to prepare a series of messages on this. Comments are welcome.
